Elite Open School — High School Curriculum

College Prep Courses

  • EOS provides students with a diverse range of college prep-level courses from which teams of expert counselors and advisors plan with students and families to chart a course towards graduation and college beyond. Every year, curriculum and content is assessed and updated to ensure that our students are receiving the best education possible.

University of California A-G Approved Courses

  • Since 2016, all of the courses that our students take at EOS are approved by the University of California and the standards set forth for A-G Requirements. The UC schools and the Board of Regents have set forth some of the most demanding criteria by which all of a school's courses are evaluated for approval on an annual basis. Simply put, it is the gold standard of curriculum and content quality in the world and it is what we set as our minimum standards.

Honors and Advanced Placement Courses

  • EOS provides some of the most Honors and Advanced Placement courses of all high schools so that students who wish to be challenged in certain areas, at varying degrees of challenge, can fulfill their growth potential. The Honors courses at EOS, just like the AP courses, are approved as Honors Courses by the University of California, meaning that they will receive an extra GPA Point in the GPA calculations for admission. Both public and private colleges and universities will generally honor our advanced courses. All of the Advanced Placement courses at EOS are approved by The College Board.

Dual Credit Courses

  • For the students who wish to challenge themselves beyond the traditional advanced courses of Honors and APs, EOS is able to offer students the opportunity to earn college credit for a long list of advanced courses. Students will receive grades on both the high school transcript as well as the US Regionally Accredited College’s transcript. Both transcripts will be sent to schools applied to. Dual Credit courses count for extra weighted GPA points when applying to colleges and universities. While generally confirmed at the point of matriculation, our Dual Credit courses provide transferable college credit so that EOS students, with enough Dual Credit courses, can enter college as freshmen but with sophomore standing, leading to possibilities of double majors, additional minors, or early college graduation.

Broad UC-Approved Elective Courses

  • One of the rare advantages of EOS students is the depth of the course catalog that offers students a wide range of UC Approved elective courses, ranging from additional computer science courses to humanities courses and even to career related courses in business (ex: Accounting 1 and 2)  to medical courses (ex: Intro to Health Science) to social studies courses (ex: Ethnic Studies) and many more.

NCAA Approved Courses

  • For students interested in college athletics that are a part of the NCAA, most EOS courses are NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 approved. Upon admission to EOS, students and their coaches will work closely with our counselors and teams to chart a flexible progression of coursework that meets those guidelines.

Artificial Intelligence-Based Math and Science

  • As a part of Elite Education Group, EOS is focused on bringing the best of edu-tech to our students. As a part of our mission to leverage technology, all EOS students receive learning assistance, extra practice, targeted mini and micro lessons, reinforcement, and skill and content mastery confirmation through an AI-Augmented math and science digital supplement. With transparent progress monitoring, our staff of counselors and instructors use this as a review or preview tool to help our students in ways not possible years before. With our guidance, it is nearly mathematically impossible to not fully learn and understand math and science subjects or not get an A in the class. Not all AI tools are gimmicks, and we at EOS are committed to bringing those to bear on our students’ futures.

Unmatched Academic Rigor and Opportunity

  • 136 Courses

  • 32 World Language Courses

  • 84 UC-Approved College Prep Courses

  • 14 UC-Approved Honors Courses

  • 16 College Board AP Courses

  • 24 Dual Credit Courses

  • 10 Computer Science Courses

For Every Student, A Team

Master Course Instructors

  • Course Instructors at EOS are masters of their subject matter and are certified and trained to levels that exceed accreditation standards. EOS employs only teachers with certifications or graduate degrees in their subject fields. The faculty list of EOS is filled with MAs, PHDs, and even JDs and represent the top of the school rankings.

Academic Excellence Oversight Teams

  • Centralized in the EOS HQ, there are team members devoted to being another layer of tracking and oversight for student planning, performance, and progress towards set goals and grades. They act as the neural network that binds all assets together in concert for the fluid success of every semester for every student.

Head Academic Coaches

  • Integral to each student's success and the homeroom or unit cohesion of each student pod (or cohort) within grades, the primary mentor figure through a student’s academic year is the Academic Coach. While they themselves are graduates from top colleges, they are picked not only for their academic abilities but their interpersonal skills and small team leadership abilities to draw out the best in students and also focus on the motivation and the personal growth in the students. These mentoring figures, while in the academic setting, are the lynchpin and the pride of our learning model as a constellation of education assets contributes in specialized ways to every student every day.

Additional Subject Matter Specialists

  • As students advance in their coursework, especially at the higher high school levels, there will be a need for more efficient and effective academic attention, secondary mini-lectures, and individualized support for subjects such as math, science, computer science, etc. For these courses again, we draw upon the historic experience and certified instructor network of Elite Education Group and bring in those subject matter experts according to each student’s need and course. It is one of our core principles that both student and family should never wonder or doubt if there will be appropriate support that “really knows” and thus can help. This ultimate level of built-in support is what ensures that not only do our students master every course they take but also get As for an unparalleled transcript in the end.

Principal and Counselors

  • As the lead figures of the campus but also the nexus of every support and service available to the student, our principals and counselors have only one mission, and that is to support the successful education of every student, not just in the current step, but for the next step ahead. These educators are sworn professionals who will exert every resource and option available to make sure that no child achieves under their potential. They are the ones developing master plans with families and provide a level of attention that is simply impossible at traditional schools. Through them, the full educational force of Elite Education Group is at each family’s disposal.

Mentoring Team

  • As another measure of assistance, students will receive the support and attention of our Mentoring Team that is devoted to each individual student’s growth and academic potential. Their jobs are to constantly check on and check in with students daily, weekly, and monthly, all the while sending research, ideas, experiential opportunities to the counselors and coaches in executing the academic master plans.

College Counselors

  • Perhaps one of the greatest assets to students are the college counselors that draw from the training, knowledge, best practices, and latest insights of the College Consulting division of Elite Prep. Professional counselors who have assisted thousands of families attend Top 50 Schools, Ivy Leagues, and competitive programs will be meeting with students and families regularly, giving exclusive access to seminars and workshops, overseeing all student action plans, and of course, guiding the final steps of a multi-year college application process.

Core Academic Experience

Master Planning

  • Our team of educators work with each individual student and parents to form a family’s master plan or multi-year action plan to achieve the desired high school goal, no matter what that may be. What courses to take next year? What to do during summers? Which extra classes or activities can or should the student take? What is the intended target high school? All stakeholders meet regularly every quarter to assess and update the action plan according to the realistic results. While a fluid process, it brings the most stability to the core of academics at EOS.

Progress Tracking

  • Critical to the success of learning performance at EOS is transparent, live, real progress that is visible to all stakeholders from students to mentors to counselors to parents. Students information is centralized into the custom built EOS Student Information System, which is also the hub for all of the digital course content. This information nexus is compiled and analyzed by multiple sets of teams, in layers of analysis and attention. Our system is also the safety net by which alerts can be broadcast to catch any trends or immediate needs for academic reinforcement.

Parent Updates

  • Through the wisdom learned from the operations of sister organization Elite Prep for over 30 years, EOS believes that the parent’s knowledge and update is tantamount to the success of the student and the reaching of goal standards. Therefore, much importance is placed on reporting and updates, both written, verbal, and in-person with parents who are the child’s greatest support outside of school time. Working with each family to set a custom modus operandi of communication, information will be relayed and analysis discussed and decisions made with parents in the customized ways and means they believe is best for them and their schedules. Parents, while different in their ideal modes and frequencies of communication, are all the same in terms of wanting to know what is going on so they can make better decisions on the home front.

Blended Learning Augmentation

  • The fully accredited EOS learning and teaching model, while based on the technology enhanced digital curriculum, relies heavily on a constellation of key players that fill different roles in a student’s educational journey from course teacher to college counselor. It is by far the most defining difference between EOS and other schools, traditional, hybrid, and especially online-only. The success of a student in terms of education goals can be guaranteed if you draw upon the specialized professionals of the proven Elite Education Group.

Efficiency of Learning

  • EOS, through years of experience, has figured out the best, most effective and yet efficient way for students to have a robust transcript worthy of applying to top colleges and universities, achieving the same robust standards such as UC A-G Requirements in the shortest time possible with maximized GPAs. For students who wish to have more challenge and rigor, we have advanced pathways that require more time but we also have standardized pathways that will take less time and still get students to Top 50 schools such as UCLA. This saving of time is the first advantage of all the benefits EOS students enjoy because it is the one that allows all others. With the control of core curriculum completion time, for the first time, families now have the luxury of decisions to make on pursuing their passions in creative arts, sports, etc. Efficiency is the absolute key to holistic learning and diverse experiences. A school cannot claim holistic growth without carefully calculating and reining in, when necessary, with wisdom, the core coursework.

Holistic Grading System

  • Because of the importance EOS places on holistic development and thus holistic assessment and grading, we worked with our accreditations to pioneer the most fair and holistic grading system for every course that our students take at EOS. We believe that course curriculum and content and all the knowledge checks associated with those areas are important but there are subjective elements, growth points that can only be assessed or known by live human mentors and counselors and of course teachers. Therefore, within the EOS system, part of the course grade will come from the traditional metrics of grading, assignments, quizzes, tests, finals, and midterms. But another portion will come from the elements of discussion, effort, growth, and other subjective elements at the discretion of the teacher and academic team assigned for that student and class. This leads to fairer, and also more accurate grading which makes student motivation and performance much easier to raise and maintain at high levels.

College Planning and Transition

  • There are high schools that have a focus on education largely for the sake of education. EOS however was established and carries out a different mission, borne from its history with first time college families, immigrants, missionaries, athletes, and artists, all with very specific missions for college and careers beyond. Everything done at EOS for the student is done with the college intent at the root thought and intent. There is no policy nor is there one recommendation for a student that we make without the future of our students in mind. Therefore, from onboarding, to coursework, to counselor meetings, to application and matriculation guidance, what may seem heavy handed to the student is appreciated by the family as done for college and their future careers in mind.

 Early College (Dual Diploma) Program

The conventional path to academic rigor taken by most high school students usually relies on College Board Advanced Placement courses – often starting in 11th grade. Students may also enroll in courses at a junior college to satisfy their intellectual drive and showcase their academic aptitude.

Alternatively, EOS offers the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree for students who wish to challenge themselves with college level coursework from the beginning of high school. The Associate of Arts program is a rare opportunity for students to progress through a UC A-G Requirement-fulfilling course progression, while satisfying each subject with a college level curriculum.

Most coursework can count as transferable credit, allowing students to matriculate into their undergraduate freshman year with significant college credits to fulfill general education requirements, potentially up to third-year undergraduate standing. This in turn unlocks possibilities for double majors, advanced program admissions, and/or early college graduation.

Graduates of the Dual Diploma Program receive a high school diploma from Elite Open School, as well as an Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited US college or university.
